De stad ligt aan de rivier de Arga. Deze stad is ooit gesticht door de Romeinen en was toen de hoofdstad van een groot rijk. Er werd Baskisch gesproken. Nadat de Romeinen er heersten in de Middeleeuwen kwam het in bezit van de Fransen. Tot het uiteindelijk bij Spanje hoorde.<\/p>\n<p>Pamplona staat bekend om het stierenrennen. Dit vind plaats tijdens de San Ferm\u00edn feesten, 6 tot 14 juli. Deze feesten worden gehouden ter ere van de patroonheilige van de stad, San F\u00edrm\u00edn. Dus als er op je planning staat dat je naar Pamplona wilt, ga dan tussen\u00a0 en 14 juli als je dit eens een keer wilt meemaken. Een bijzondere ervaring, maar houdt er rekening mee dat het toeristische niveau deze week op het toppunt staat! Er komen heel veel toeristen op af. Als je de stierenrennen eens in levende lijve mee wilt maken, dan moet je in Pamplona zijn. Dat is een typisch streekgerecht wat je natuurlijk zeker eens moet proberen. Er is zelfs een jaarlijks festival waar honderden restaurants vechten om de eer wie de beste pinchos maakt.<\/p>\n<p>Het middelpunt van Pamplona is Plaza del Castillo, een rechthoekig plein waar zich een muziektent bevindt in het midden van het plein. Het is een geliefd plekje voor mensen om foto\u2019s te maken. Tevens bevind zich hier het bekendste caf\u00e9 van Pamplona, caf\u00e9 Iru\u00f1a.<\/p>\n<p>Er is een paleis van waaruit de regering van Navarra regeert. Bij dit paleis zijn tuinen en een prachtige fontein te vinden, welke \u2019s avonds mooi verlicht is.<\/p>\n<p>Ook het stadhuis heeft een barokke uitstraling en is een prachtig gebouw, maar ook de kathedraal kun je niet negeren. Deze kathedraal heeft een romaanse kerk vervangen en is gebouwd in de 14<sup>e<\/sup> en 15<sup>e<\/sup> eeuw. Het is een prachtig gotisch gebouw. Zeker als je naar het festival gaat in juli, dan heeft deze arena de hoofdrol van het festival!<\/p>\n<p>Het museum van Navarra bevind zich in een voormalig ziekenhuis uit de 16<sup>e<\/sup> eeuw.<\/p>\n<p>Er is nog een paleis en wel het Aartsbisschoppelijke paleis. Deze ligt tegen de stadsmuur en is in de 18<sup>e<\/sup> eeuw gebouwd. In de middeleeuwen was hier een joodse wijk.<\/p>\n<p>Er is een route van de stadsmuur tot de tuinen van Taconera. Absoluut de moeite waard om te bewandelen. Natuurlijk zijn er ook gidsen die graag hun diensten aanbieden.<\/p>\n<p>Pamplona is ook een geliefde stopplaats op de route naar Santiago de Compostella. Er zijn veel pelgrims te vinden.
